LAN connection

Ways to connect wired cameras.

1. Switch PoE

Device description: A device supplying power via twisted-pair cable. A camera with a PoE module is required for connection.

Connection description: The camera is connected via a twisted-pair cable directly to the PoE switch. The camera will be powered up and connected via the internet cable.

2. PoE recorder

Device description: Recorder with built-in PoE power ports. A camera with a built-in PoE module is required for connection. Depending on the recorder model, the number of ports may vary.

Connection description: The camera is connected via a twisted-pair cable directly to the PoE port in the recorder. The camera will be powered up and connected via the internet cable.

3. LAN/Router Switch + DC12V Power

Device description: Switch LAN/Router combines the monitoring set into one network, which allows the cameras to communicate with the recorder. Unfortunately, the LAN Switch/Router usually does not have PoE power ports, which makes it impossible to power the camera through a twisted pair cable.

Connection description: The camera is connected via twisted pair cable to the LAN Switch/Router. Connect the power adapter with a DC connector to the power connector on the camera. Most cameras on the market require a 12V power supply.

4. LAN/Router switch + DC12V power supply using PoE splitters

Device description: Switch LAN/Router combines the monitoring set into one network, which allows the cameras to communicate with the recorder. Unfortunately, the LAN Switch/Router usually does not have PoE power ports, which makes it impossible to power the camera through a twisted pair cable. In this case, a PoE splitter comes to the rescue.

The device is used on both sides of the twisted pair and is used to "inject" power directly into it. This helps us when, for example, we do not have a socket next to the camera.

Connection description: The splitter consists of two parts. One part is connected to the LAN Switch/Router and the DC12V power supply, and the other part is connected to the LAN connector on the camera and the DC connector.

5. PoE power adapter

Description of the device: The device "injects" 48V power directly into the twisted-pair cable, which in turn will power the PoE camera and allow data transfer. It can be said that it is a PoE switch with one port.

Connection description: Connect the power supply with the LAN connector to the LAN Switch/Router, and with the PoE connector to the PoE camera. The device requires connection to a 220V socket.
